So who are we?

Welcome to the Maverick Medic Podcast website and blog. Here we are dedicated to you all! We are first responders and we want to bring to light what first responders actually do!

Chris Hilliard and Tyler Dickson are two best friends who consider each other brothers. They both attended Pennsylvania College of Technology Paramedic Program, Class of 2013. Even before then, they both have had an interesting fire and EMS career.

Tyler came to Pennsylvania knowing that PCT was one of the top paramedic programs in the country. At the time, Tyler was working as a Firefighter for a department in Southern California when he was given the opportunity to go to paramedic school. He came to PA to discover hill, mountains, and snow...yes snow. That was a bit of culture shock. When Tyler moved to PA, he moved into Loyalsock Township Fire Department as a live in. He quickly became a house favorite and was quick to earn the respect of members and career staff alike.

Chris was a home grown PA boy. He grew up about 30 minutes south of Williamsport in Lewisburg PA. He joined the William Cameron Engine Co. as a Junior Firefighter. Through his high school years, he became a trained fire fighter and EMT. Going to a local trade school, PCT, to become a paramedic was a no brainier.

Chris was beginning the process of joining the PCT Paramedic Class of 2013 when he lived for a brief time at Loyalsock Township Fire Department. That’s where Chris and Tyler got a chance to become brothers. A tight bond with several class mates ensued and everyone would work tirelessly to become paramedics. Together, there were many late nights, boxes of pizza, and a TON of beer was drank at Tyler’s center city apartment.

On August 10, 2013, twelve people walked across the stage at graduation. A class that started with over forty students was brought down to only twelve. From there, everyone had plans and moved in their own direction. Chris and Tyler remained close friends, however.

Following paramedic school, Tyler worked for the two main hospital services in the Susquehanna Valley before relocating back to LA. Tyler lives with his girl Nadja, a ER nurse and their English Bulldog, Winston.

Chris stuck around the local area as well and sank his teeth into paramedic work. His journey would eventually lead him down to work for a county system in southern Delaware where he currently resides with his wife and son.

Now, achieved paramedics who have a thirst for knowledge and bringing awareness to the masses about the field. Chris and Tyler also have a passion for support of our local police forces, military personnel, and other hospital professionals. Join them as they bring forth a riveting podcast that talks about paramedicine and everything in between!
